About the Author
Michael Scott is the pen name of a Columbus, Ohio-based certified hypnotherapist with an engineering and computer sciences background. The son of two mental health professionals, Mike worked for years with others to develop the Relyfe Programming approach to hypnosis. Mr. Scott is the long time editor of, and contributor to, The Practice of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, a Kindle Edition of which will soon be available, and was, paradoxically, asked to be a commenting editor to the 400th Anniversary Edition of the King James Version of the Bible. For decades, Mr. Scott has published articles on the subjects of hypnosis, sexual expression, the treatment of sexual dysfunction, anorexia, weight problems, chronic pain and self-mutilation through Relyfe Programming. Having been a federal prisoner in the early 1990's, Mr. Scott has also authored several successful post-conviction challenges to the unlawful convictions of others, and he has consulted with individuals and attorneys around the country on federal habeas corpus and 28 U.S.C.§2255 matters. Mike cites his wife Melissa as motivation for his ongoing efforts at helping others, and for helping to take himself a little less seriously than he might otherwise.

An interesting read and definitely a topic of conversation

A Interesting book that dives into the deep topic of erotic hypnosis. Worth a try if you have a beginning interest in the subject as it rather basic and definitely in need of another proofreading before it should have been published.

While the content has a great base there are surely other options available to further expend a more comprehensive view of the material.

How to Be A Lowlife Hypno Pimp.

I bought this e-book in the interest of my further study into NLP an in applied situation. In all honesty, being a male myself, I thought in the context of erotica this would be an interesting read as well. I do believe that Mr. Michael Scott is a trained and skilled hypnotist. However, I found that the use of his skills are not only unethical but quite perverted. It is my contention that any man who has a need to exploit any women's sense of insecurity, dysfunction, or vulnerability for his own sexual gratification and that of his friends is nothing short of being a lowlife pimp. It is also a reflection of this man's own lack of self worth and insecurities as well as that of the company he seems to keep. He tries to justify his practice as being consensual but how can one in severe mental or physical distress consent to anything properly. He seems to re frame one young lady's migraines for nymphomania where she promptly ends up doing his bud who is probably another old leach like himself. He assist another friend's addicted gf to replace that needle in her arm for his c**k in her mouth and now they both live happily ever after.

He does state that his own daughter is estranged from him. Duh! I wonder why? Why can't he just re frame her animosity for himself under hypnosis with a need for some type of sexual gratification.

Quezon review

Bought this book on the strenght of the author, having been the 1st president of the Philippine Commonwealth. Expected a lot of details as to private thoughts and honest opinions. However, the book felt like the author was window dressing it and writing for posterity (don't they all?). Although it doesn't take away any of his greatness as a statesman and a Filipino leader.

Not my favorite choice.

Being new to the Appalachian trail I purchase this data book. Overall good. I don't use it because the mileages are not referenced from the ends of the Appalachian trail they are referenced from the state lines. Consequently they don't match any other guide or video or book. What a shame. I like the size of the book but for me the mileage values make it not my choice. Why not add Nobo and Sobo measurements so it could be used for referencing from books and videos. I would also like to see two indexes one index alphabetical for all points on the trail and mileage index from start to finish.

He studied theory and analysis privately with Carl Schachter and later with Ernst Oster. He has been a member of the Techniques of Music department at Mannes since 1969 and a member of the piano department since 1973. He has taught theory at The Curtis Institute of Music since 1971 and is currently Chairperson of the theory department. He has given recitals and master classes throughout the United States as well as in Israel, England and Germany, many of them devoted to the works of Bach. Recordings include both books of THE WELL-TEMPERED CLAVIER, GOLDBERG VARIATIONS and FRENCH SUITES OF BACH, as well as works of Hindemith and Faure.

Carl Schachter has taught music theory and analysis at Mannes College since 1956. He has served as the Chair of the Techniques of Music Division, and he was Dean of the College from 1962 to 1966. In July 1996 he retired as Distinguished Professor of Music at Queens College and the CUNY Graduate School, where he had taught since 1971. Following his retirement from Queens College, he joined the faculty of The Juilliard School. He has lectured and taught in France, England, Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, Finland, Estonia, Holland, Mexico, and Australia as well as the U.S. and Canada.

This is not a paperback edition of the textbook but rather Workbook I which accompanies the hardcover textbook. I made the mistake of ordering this thinking it was the textbook.
What amazon.ca is calling the 'Workbook' is actually Workbook II, covering the later chapters of the textbook.

Although Wallace (Who Killed Kurt Cobain?) is a recipient of Rolling Stone's Award for Investigative Journalism and appears to have done much primary research, he delivers a highly speculative rehash of material handled much better in A. Scott Berg's Lindbergh, Robert Lacey's Ford: The Man and the Machine and such seminal studies as Charles Higham's American Swastika. Wallace tries and fails to sensationalize well-known facts about the parochial American fifth column of the late 1930s and early '40s, a bungling movement of which Ford and Lindbergh were among the most public faces. Wallace sees a conspiracy in what he presents as Ford's pro-Nazi partnership with Lindbergh: a dark and powerful alliance designed to hinder the Allies at every turn. In fact, the two men were far more naive than effectual in their attempts to prop up American isolationism before Pearl Harbor. And Lindbergh, who counted Harry Guggenheim among his closest friends, found Ford's hatred of Jews repugnant. Once war was declared, both Lindbergh and Ford helped the Allied effort. Lindbergh helped develop the Corsair and later, as a "civilian observer," flew more than 25 combat missions over the South Pacific. At the same time, Ford (with Lindbergh's help, and after a few false starts) became the leading manufacturer of the B-24 bomber. Were Ford and Lindbergh half-witted dupes of Nazi propaganda before the war? Undoubtedly. Were they Nazi agents either before or after the start of hostilities? Max Wallace is a veteran journalist and Holocaust researcher. He spent three years as an interviewer for Steven Spielberg's Shoah Project, documenting the testimonies of Holocaust survivors. A winner of the Rolling Stone Magazine Award for Investigative Journalism, Wallace is the author of Who Killed Kurt Cobain? and Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight. Superbly written, throughly documented, history

I cannot BELIEVE the negative reviews that this book has received on this site - and you shouldn't either! This is one of the most carefully researched, extensively footnoted, beautifully written, books on this subject ever published. The sources include entries from Lindbergh's journal, Lindbergh's speeches, FBI files, letters from German archives, Ford company records, and many other primary sources. Every assertion of fact is backed up with unimpeachable documentation. This is not in any way a hatchet job. Wallace goes out of his way to tell us what we do not know for sure, and to give his subjects the benefit of the doubt whenever possible.

But, even so, what emerges is a damning portrait of Ford and Lindbergh. The degree of responsibility for the success of the Third Reich that must be borne by these two men will astonish you. The author, using polls from the time, deftly demolishes the utterly bogus argument that these two men were simply reflecting the prevailing attitudes of the majority of Americans, as anyone who had actually read the book would know.

When Wallace, near the end of the book, expands his scope to address the reasons such admittedly poorly educated (and in Lindbergh's case, incredibly naïve and, in my opinion, rather stupid) individuals were able to have such influence over the events of the 1930's and 1940's, he is addressing the deeper issues that lie behind the events he has described - such as humanity's apparent need for heroes, and those heroes' concomitant responsibility to think, speak, and act humanely and honorably. Charles Lindbergh and Henry Ford brought great harm to humanity, most especially to the Jews, during their years on the world stage. They should be held responsible for it.

You will never realize how deeply these two American heroes supported the Nazi cause.

Charles Lindbergh and Henry Ford knew exactly what they were doing when they received their awards from the Nazis in the late 1930's. However, their degree of support, in the case of Ford wittingly, and in the case of Lindbergh perhaps not so, for the fascist side, and the Nazis in general has not been documented. This book is well researched, objective, manages to see both sides of an equation, and should be considered as part of the definitive biographies on both men. Excellent sourcing of materials.

Divided into two parts, Praxis and Theoria, this book covers a wide range of topics, based on key Scriptural passages and the writings of some of the greatest masters of the Christian spiritual life, all of which are held together by criteria which are born not of speculation but of the face to face encounter with the living God.

Dr. Christopher Veniamin is a spiritual child of elder Sophrony of Essex and Professor of Patristics at St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in South Canaan PA, where he has served for the past 20 years. He is also Professor of Patristic Theology and Dogmatics and Assistant Director of the newly-established PhD Program in Orthodox Studies at the Antiochian Orthodox Institute in La Verne, CA. He received his first degree in Theology from the School of Theology in the University of Thessalonica, and his doctorate from the University of Oxford. Professor Veniamin is an author and President of Mount Thabor Publishing.

About the Author
Dr. Christopher Veniamin was born and raised in London, England, of Greek Cypriot parents, is a spiritual child of Elder Sophrony of Essex, and Professor of Patristics at St. Tikhon s Seminary, in Pennsylvania, USA. He is a graduate of the School of Theology in the University of Thessalonica, and holds the doctorate in Theology from Oxford University, where he studied under the Most Revd Dr. Kallistos Ware, Metropolitan of Diokleia. His doctoral thesis, The Transfiguration of Christ in Greek Patristic Literature: From Irenaeus of Lyons to Gregory Palamas, was a diachronic study of the meaning of the Transfiguration in Patristic theology, spanning a period of some thirteen centuries. Professor Veniamin has produced numerous articles ranging in subject from the Apocryphal writings of the New Testament to Euthanasia, he is the publisher of the seminal works of Archimandrite Zacharias Zacharou (The Enlargement of the Heart, The Hidden Man of the Heart, and Remember Thy First Love), and has edited and translated, from the original Greek into English, the first complete edition of the sermons of Gregory Palamas (Saint Gregory Palamas: The Homilies), for which he also wrote the introduction and detailed scholia.

Immense Hopefulness in these Pages

Christians of the West have an ambivalent relationship with "human nature," unsure of its role - if any - in salvation. There may be a few explanations for this: the negation of the body implied by Descartes' "I think, therefore I am"; the irrelevance of a material dimension to faith suggested by the Reformation's "sola fide"; and the shunning of the flesh by Puritanism as the "tool of the devil." Many in our culture, then, may carry a subconscious belief that human nature is, if not unnecessary, at least neutral in the pursuit of salvation, and that, after all, "what really matters is the soul."

"The Orthodox Understanding of Salvation" is an ideal salve for these wounds. The opening paragraphs - relating a story by the author about an encounter with a saintly monk - set the tone for all that follows. "...I realized that the reason why Father Sophrony's words rang so true that day is because of the wealth of meaning which Salvation has for us in the Orthodox Church" (p. 14). In fourteen chapters of readable style and length, "The Orthodox Understanding of Salvation" explores that "wealth of meaning," and - an equivalent pleasure - gives to the reader a glimpse of what, by the grace of God, is possible for his own life.

Exploring the implications for humanity of the two natures of Christ, chiefly by reflection on the Great Feast of the Transfiguration, this work by Dr Christopher Veniamin helps to restore a full and whole - and sane - sense of how Christ came to save the whole person. There is immense hopefulness in these pages. Too, for a slim volume the content is sufficiently broad: the author visits ancient Christian luminaries such as St Cyril of Alexandria and St John Chrysostom, but also reflects on modern problems such the euthanasia case of Terri Schiavo and the theological implications of church pews.

"The divine purpose for the human race, however, is seen in the union of our human nature to the divine Person of Christ, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, in its being raised to the right hand of the Father" (p. 15).

"This is how salvation is understood in the tradition of the Orthodox Church; not in merely moral or ethical terms, but as the attainment of Christlike perfection. This is the purpose of our human existence - to become by divine grace what Christ is by nature" (p. 65).

"Thus, the human person, created in the image of God, is only fully and properly such as a member of Christ's Body, and our communion with God involves the body, the soul, and the spirit. The emphasis, therefore, is on the human person's communion with God on every level of existence: the physical, that of the soul, and also that of the spirit. Human existence is embraced in its entirety; it is healed, sanctified and transfigured in God, and at the same time, the union of the created with the Uncreated signifies a transcendence, that is to say, the raising of the human person to the right hand of God the Father, which means above and beyond necessity and all the limitations of created existence" (p. 84).

As a Western Christian, I've found this book useful to me in understanding some of the variations in beliefs. However, it gets repetitive at times, and it seems like the repetition could be phrased in more useful, nuanced phrases.

This works

This method really works. It's helpful to work with a counselor while reading the book, though. Find one who uses a non-dieting and/or intuitive eating approach and who knows about and recommends this book. I dieted for 40 years and always gained the weight back. I also used to starve during the week and binge on the weekends and always felt horrible. Since working on my eating disorder using this amazing method, I no longer binge, I can eat whatever I want and I feel great. Be aware, though, that when you start you may gain some weight because you're eating a backlog of foods you haven't allowed yourself to eat for years. I overate on these foods, but have now relaxed about them. My weight has fluctuated while working on this, but will eventually completely even out and I will lose permanent weight. My therapist used this book 30 years ago and is a thin woman without any food issues. She eats whatever shes wants and has the lowest cholesterol and blood pressure she's ever had. This book and my therapist say the basics of this method is that when you deprive yourself certain foods you'll binge on them and feel like a failure for not being able to resist them. Right now my cupboards and fridge are stocked with chocolate and chips and ice cream and they usually go bad and I have to throw them away. It's because I've taken the taboo away from them. Another beware: it takes time to work through an eating disorder. I've been working with my therapist for 6 months and it may take another 6 months, but my dieting yo-yo life is over, my binge eating is over and I feel great. The roller coaster ride is over and I'm much calmer than I've ever been. What happened is I'm becoming less and less obssessed with food and will one day be a "normal" eater who eats whatever I want whenever I'm hungry and will never lose my love for food. I highly recommend this for anyone struggling with their weight and dieting and bingeing.

Terrific idea!

It is GREAT to see this back in print--i've looked high and wide, and was unable to replace the copy i had donated to a library years ago.....until Amazon!
The idea is simple: by removing the "forbidden" label from food, EVERYTHING is available--so one "can" eat without guilt. After a bit of this, one finds that healthy foods "call" out, and the ones that are not especially good FOR you have lost their appeal.
That is the contention of this book.
I agree.

Be thin and enjoy your food

This book is for the yo-yo dieters who have lost and gained weight their entire lives and want to get off the merry-go-round, enjoy life and be thin. This book should be read every few weeks until it sinks in , it will take a while but once it sinks in, it is for a new lifetime of joyful eating and non-obsession of food when going out or on vacations or just daily living. Highly recommend.
